Abou Diaby, after almost a year of absence due to a ruptured knee ligament, made his return to Arsenal’s professional squad for the championship match against West Bromwich. Although he hoped to participate in the game, Arsène Wenger decided to keep him on the bench. Diaby, however, remains hopeful of playing again before the end of the season, with his sights set on the FA Cup final against Hull City on May 17.
“If my dark season can end with a victory in the Cup final, that would be wonderful,” Diaby expressed in an interview with L’Equipe. He acknowledges that returning to the field seemed uncertain during his extended period of recovery. However, he remained determined and decided against giving up on football.
