Badr Al-Qadouri, former player of Wydad Athletic Club, has refuted claims of assuming the position of sports director at the club following the election of Abdelmajid Bernaki as the new president of the team’s management board after the recent general assembly held by the club.
In communication with “Hesport,” Al-Qadouri clarified that he had not reached any agreement with the club president regarding a preliminary proposal to assume the role of assistant to the coach until the end of the season.
He expressed his reluctance to engage in a project lacking clear outlines that do not pave the way optimally for the next season according to specific criteria and a comprehensive team, he said.
The spokesperson added that he had another meeting with the club president, where negotiations were held regarding his appointment as a sports director of the club.
He indicated that he welcomed the idea on the condition of working according to a medium-term project for a season and a half.
However, he was surprised by the president’s withdrawal from the agreement and the proposal to work only until the end of the season, which he refused due to the impossibility of outlining a clear roadmap and project in this short period.
Al-Qadouri, who previously served as the general supervisor of Wydad Athletic Club, emphasized that he did not refuse to work with the club for financial reasons, contrary to what was circulated.
He highlighted that he made personal sacrifices during his tenure with Saïd Naciri, the former president of the club.
He noted that he did not demand his pending dues from the club and provided personal initiatives to assist youth players in their recovery with specialized doctors at his own expense.
Wydad Athletic Club had announced its association with coach Aziz Ben Askar, with sources from “Hesport” indicating that the contract between the two parties will last until the end of the current season, along with his French assistant Sébastien Banisset.
Close sources to the decision-making center at Wydad Athletic Club indicated that Ben Askar’s selection came after consultation with Hussein Amotta, the former coach of the club, and the current club officials, without confirming whether this consultation was friendly or in preparation for joining the club next season.
Amotta had previously denied rumors linking him to a potential return to Wydad, affirming his contractual obligations with the Jordanian national team.
Wydad fans were surprised by the appointment of the national framework Aziz Ben Askar, the former coach of Maghreb Fez Club, to oversee the club during this short period, especially given his limited experience and familiarity with the national championship in general and Wydad players in particular.
Al-Qadouri affirmed that his door will always remain open to Wydad Athletic Club to present his project to the team.
He indicated that in recent years, following his retirement from football, he focused on completing training courses that enabled him to graduate with the first group in sports management.
Additionally, he holds a “CAF A License,” which allows him to coach any club in the first and second divisions.
The former Moroccan international added that he has a working strategy and a special vision in the fields of coaching and management that would enable him to make a significant contribution to sports in general and football in particular.
This comes during a period of significant development in line with the visionary approach of King Mohammed VI and the current project of Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
