It’s unfortunate news for Junior Malanda and Wolfsburg fans. The Belgian-Congolese midfielder has been forced to end his season prematurely due to a serious knee injury sustained during Wolfsburg’s German Cup semi-final match against Dortmund.
Malanda suffered a torn internal ligament and a sprained cruciate ligament following a collision with a Dortmund defender in the 85th minute of the game. Fortunately, surgery is not required according to Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking, who sees this setback as both a misfortune and an opportunity for the player.
However, Malanda is expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with his recovery estimated to take between six to eight weeks. This news will undoubtedly be disappointing for both the player and the club as they navigate the remainder of the Bundesliga season without him.
