Amidst anticipation for Nicolas Anelka’s contract signing with Atletico Mineiro, the French international failed to attend the scheduled meeting. Disappointed by his absence, the club’s sporting director decided to cancel the transfer, citing Anelka’s lack of professionalism.
To provide clarity on the matter, Anelka himself released a two-minute video on YouTube, dated April 8. In the video, the 35-year-old striker explains that while he did have contact with Atletico Mineiro, there was never any agreement for him to sign with the club. Anelka also mentions that he already knows his next destination.
