Speculation surrounding Rayan Cherki’s future has been rife, with Olympique Lyonnais reportedly eager to offload the talented midfielder in the upcoming transfer window. However, despite interest from clubs across Europe, the 20-year-old has categorically ruled out any move to Saudi Arabia.

In an exclusive interview with So Foot, Cherki dismissed the notion of a transfer to Saudi Arabia, emphasizing his desire to continue playing in Europe.

“Today, it’s far far far far far from my ideas. They can give me 600 million euros a day, I’m not going there,” asserted Cherki. “I want to play in Europe, to enjoy it here and then we’ll see… In the future, of course I could play there.

It’s a Muslim country, these are important things for me. I will see at the end of my career where the Saudi championship is.”

Despite failing to meet the lofty expectations set by Lyon supporters this season, Cherki remains steadfast in his commitment to pursuing his career in European football.

While he acknowledges the potential allure of the Saudi championship in the future, his immediate focus lies on making an impact in Europe.

Cherki’s performances for Lyon this season have been scrutinized, with the young attacking midfielder often falling short of expectations.

Despite featuring in 31 matches, he has started only 19, prompting speculation about his future at the club.

Despite contributing 3 goals and 6 assists, Cherki’s performances have been deemed below par, leading to suggestions that he could be on the move this summer.

As the transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Cherki’s next move.

While his rejection of a move to Saudi Arabia may come as a relief to European clubs, the talented midfielder’s future remains uncertain as he looks to rediscover his form and fulfill his potential on the European stage.
