Christian Benteke has suffered a serious injury in training, tearing his Achilles tendon. Initially scheduled for surgery on Monday, the Aston Villa striker postponed the procedure due to mental readiness. According to the Red Devils’ doctor, Benteke will undergo surgery at the end of the week.

Dr. Kris Van Crombrugge explained, “Normally, Christian Benteke was to have surgery on Monday. But mentally, he was not ready to undergo the procedure. He spent a few days with his family, and he should have surgery at the end of the week.” He reassured that the operation will proceed without any issues, whether performed immediately or after waiting a few days to reduce inflammation.

The injury, described as “bad luck” by the national team doctor, occurred during training when Benteke hit from the right, resulting in a break on the left side. The doctor dismissed fatigue as the cause, attributing it to unfortunate circumstances. He expressed confidence in Benteke’s recovery and future performance, stating, “We are already thinking about his rehabilitation and next season. I am sure that he will be a top player in England again.”

Unfortunately, this injury will sideline Benteke for six months, causing him to miss the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
