Houssem Aouar has shed light on his improved fortunes at AS Roma following the departure of José Mourinho and the ascension of Daniele De Rossi to the managerial helm. The Algerian midfielder, previously discontented with Mourinho’s tenure, has experienced a notable upturn in both playing time and personal rapport under De Rossi’s guidance.
Despite arriving at AS Roma last summer amidst high expectations, Aouar’s involvement on the pitch had been limited, featuring in just 13 Serie A matches and registering three goals.
However, since Mourinho’s departure and De Rossi’s appointment, the 23-year-old has found himself enjoying increased opportunities, with two starts in the last three matches.
Reflecting on the transformation, Aouar emphasized the pivotal role of communication and human interaction in his resurgence at the club.
“Everything changed with De Rossi. The difference is that now the coach talks to me a lot. He told me to increase the intensity and I did it, I train every day to be ready if I am needed,” remarked the former Olympique Lyonnais player.
Aouar’s remarks, reported by AS Roma Press, underscore a stark contrast in coaching styles between Mourinho and De Rossi, with the latter prioritizing interpersonal connections and clear communication with his players.
This shift in approach has evidently resonated positively with Aouar, who has responded by redoubling his efforts on the training ground and seizing the opportunities presented to him on matchdays.
As AS Roma strives to climb the Serie A standings, currently positioned 5th in the Italian championship, the renewed dynamism and morale within the squad under De Rossi’s guidance bode well for the club’s ambitions.
With Aouar poised to play an increasingly influential role in the team’s fortunes, the impact of De Rossi’s coaching philosophy continues to reverberate positively throughout the Roma camp.
