Mehdi Benatia, who has been linked with FC Barcelona and Manchester United for the upcoming season, is now reportedly also on the radar of Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club recently clinched their 24th German championship title after a victory over Hertha Berlin on the 27th day of the Bundesliga.
According to Sky Sport, as relayed by TMW, Benatia’s profile appeals greatly to Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who is seeking to bolster his defensive lineup for the next season. Guardiola is particularly interested in the AS Roma defender, who is reportedly awaiting a contract extension with a significant salary increase, possibly reaching up to two million euros annually, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite Guardiola’s interest, there have been no official contacts between Roma and Bayern regarding the transfer of Benatia at this time.
