The North African Football Union (UNAF) has revealed plans to organize a developmental tournament for women’s football clubs under 20 years old, as part of UNAF’s agenda to enhance women’s football in North Africa.
The tournament will be fully funded by FIFA, the international football governing body, and will be integrated into the FIFA Forward program and series.
Hafsa El Masaafe, Head of Women’s Football Development at the North African Football Union, exclusively stated to “Kora Plus” today, “The developmental tournament will take place from May 1st to May 10th, 2024, with only one representative from Egypt, the champion of the Egyptian Women’s Youth League.”
El Masaafe further elaborated, “The tournament will feature participation from 5 clubs representing 5 countries, namely Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Libya.”
The President of Women’s Football Development at the North African Football Union added, “We await the nomination from the Egyptian Football Association regarding the team they will send to represent them.
As of now, they have not informed us of their representative. Currently, four clubs are competing for the title.”
