Vladimir Vermezovic has been appointed as the new coach of Orlando Pirates. The Serbian coach has signed a three-year contract with the South African club. Vermezovic, who previously coached Kaizer Chiefs, aims to revitalize Orlando Pirates, which has experienced a string of defeats.
Currently, Orlando Pirates sits in 7th place with 23 points, trailing behind Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, who are in 1st and 2nd place respectively.
Following his playing career, Vermezovic transitioned into coaching and led Partizan to the round of 16 in the UEFA Cup during the 2004/2005 season. He later coached Spartak Trnava before making his move to South Africa in 2009.
After a stint with Partizan, Vermezovic returned to coaching in Africa. This marks his second coaching role on the continent.
