Dany Nounkeu’s move to Besiktas on Sunday, with an option to buy, came as a disappointment to Kardemir Karabükspor, who had hoped to secure the services of the Cameroonian central defender from Galatasaray.
The Cameroon international opted to join Istanbul rivals Besiktas in search of regular playing time. With Galatasaray already having a full complement of foreign players, including Didier Drogba, Nounkeu sought opportunities to feature regularly to bolster his chances of making it to the 2014 World Cup squad for the Indomitable Lions.
Despite being a Turkish champion last season, the former Toulouse player has only made six appearances in the Championship this season with Galatasaray.
