Amad Diallo, the young Ivorian winger for Manchester United, has taken a significant decision ahead of Ramadan, opting to deactivate all his social media accounts for the holy month.
Despite limited playing time at Manchester United this season due to injuries and sporadic appearances, Diallo’s decision to disconnect from social media has sparked discussions among fans and pundits alike.
However, the 21-year-old clarified his stance, attributing the move to his commitment to observing Ramadan.
In response to critics questioning his social media blackout, Diallo stated, “I deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan.
Stop the hatred, there is nothing wrong in what I did. It’s a holy month for me and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during the fast,” as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
During Manchester United’s recent Premier League fixture against Everton, where they secured a 2-0 victory, Diallo remained on the bench for the seventh time since his return from injury.
With his contract set to expire in June 2025, speculation is rife regarding his future at the club, with no indication of an extension forthcoming.
Amad Diallo arrived at Manchester United from Atalanta in the winter of 2021 amid high expectations, drawing comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo and hailed as a beacon of hope for Ivorian football.
However, his tenure at the club has been marred by struggles to cement a regular spot in the lineup.
Despite promising loan spells at Glasgow Rangers and Sunderland, Diallo’s journey at Manchester United has yet to fully take flight, impacting his international career as well, with only four caps and one goal for the Ivorian national team since his return in March 2023.
