Athletico Libertad de Marina del Aljarafe, the Spanish football club, has launched a solidarity campaign to raise donations to repatriate the body of a young player who died while playing for their ranks to Morocco for burial.
The Moroccan youngster, aged 21, tragically lost his life early last Sunday after being stabbed in the vicinity of the Santa Clara neighborhood in Seville.
The circumstances surrounding the incident led Investigation Court No. 13 in Seville to order the temporary detention without bail of two suspects believed to be involved in the crime.
In a statement, the club explained that the campaign is being promoted in collaboration with the victim’s mother, appealing for solidarity from citizens to repatriate the body and bury it in its native land.
“We are seeking assistance, regardless of the size of the donation. Together, we will achieve this goal and lay our child to eternal rest in his homeland,” the statement read.
The Spanish sports club has enabled contributions in cash at the club’s headquarters starting from Friday, and during weekend breaks at the Antonio Rojas municipal stadium during match times.
