Marwan Attia, the midfielder for the Al Ahly football team, extended his congratulations to his teammates, coaching staff, board of directors, and fans on clinching the Egypt Cup title against Zamalek.
The first football team of Al Ahly won the Egypt Cup championship by defeating Zamalek with two goals to none in the match held today, Friday, at the Al Ahly Stadium, as part of the Egypt Cup final.
In remarks to the official Al Ahly website, Marwan Attia stated, “The fighting spirit and the manly performance displayed by Al Ahly players throughout the match are the secret behind achieving success and winning the Egypt Cup.”
He continued, “We prepared well for the match against Zamalek, and all players were united in their efforts to clinch the title.”
The game started with both teams displaying attacking intentions to score the opening goal.
The 6th minute witnessed the most dangerous opportunity for Al Ahly, with a shot from Amr El Solia hitting the defense and turning into a corner.
In the 8th minute, there was a penalty appeal from Al Ahly players after Imam Ashour fell inside Zamalek’s penalty area, but after VAR review, the referee decided to continue the play without awarding any foul.
The match remained intense, with both teams vying for a breakthrough.
In the 84th minute, Imam Ashour scored the opening goal for Al Ahly after receiving a cross from Mohamed Magdi Afsha, slotting it past Mohamed Awad on the left side.
The goal was awarded after VAR consultation.
As the match drew to a close, Mohamed Magdi Afsha secured Al Ahly’s victory with a powerful shot in the 94th minute, sealing a 2-0 win and crowning Al Ahly as the champions of the Egypt Cup.
