Coach Etienne Ndayiragije of the Burundian national football team, known as Hirondelles du Burundi, has disclosed the roster of 29 players set to represent the nation during the upcoming FIFA international break. The squad is scheduled to engage in friendly encounters against Madagascar and Botswana.
As the FIFA days approach, the football enthusiasts of Burundi eagerly await the national team’s participation in the international break, which includes fixtures against Madagascar and Botswana.
Coach Etienne Ndayiragije, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, revealed the names of the 29 players who will don the Burundian jersey during this prestigious event.
The roster includes familiar faces such as Saidi Ntibazonkiza, Mukombozi Derrick, Sudi Abdallah, and Nahimana Jonathan, who are stalwarts in the national team.
However, the squad has a modest representation from the local championship, with only four players hailing from the domestic league.
This includes defender Bukuru Keita from Aigle Noir, and midfielders Msanga Henry (Flambeau du Center FC), Fred Niyonizeye (Vital’O FC), and Élie Eldinho Mokono (Bumamuru FC).
The Burundian national team is set to embark on a journey to Madagascar for a friendly tournament during the FIFA days.
The team will have two outings during their stay, with the first match scheduled against the Malagasy team on March 22, followed by the second clash against Botswana on March 25, 2024.
