Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has expressed caution regarding the return of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to training after recovering from a hamstring injury ahead of the Europa League clash against Sparta Prague on Thursday.
Liverpool, the Premier League leaders, received a significant morale boost with Salah’s return one day before their match against Prague in the round of 16 of the Europa League and four days before their showdown with reigning champions Manchester City.
Speaking to reporters, the German coach said, “Yes, Salah traveled with us, he has trained for two days, and he is full of energy.
We want to be cautious, but it’s an extremely intense period of the season, and we want to make the most of it. It’s good news.”
Salah, who has scored 19 goals for Liverpool this season in all competitions, had previously suffered an injury while representing Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations.
He has not played since February 17 when he came on as a substitute and scored in the 4-1 win against Brentford.
Klopp mentioned, “It was an unusual situation as he was absent for a long time and then produced a brilliant performance against Brentford but was absent from the field afterward.
That’s the situation.”
Regarding Salah’s decision to join his national team’s camp during this month’s international break, Klopp clarified that it’s not up to him.
He added, “Another management will make the decision. We will see how much he can play now.
It’s not in my hands; we are not involved.”
