Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al Ahly, has reiterated the team’s strong focus on clinching the Egyptian Cup title against Zamalek, slated for this Friday, despite the anticipated challenges of the match.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Koller stated, “We are pleased with the good preparation throughout the week leading up to the match, as it will be a significant and challenging encounter.”
“We know that we will face a formidable opponent, and we will give our all to secure the title,” he added, expressing satisfaction with the expected turnout of fans and the positive atmosphere in Saudi Arabia, where the match will take place.
“We are highly motivated to claim victory and seize the championship.”
Addressing concerns about injuries within the team, Koller revealed, “We have three absences due to injuries, along with other players who are not physically ready.
Therefore, we have brought along 23 players, from whom three will be excluded, leaving us with a squad of 20 players for the match.”
Reflecting on the significance of the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia as a turning point in their season, Koller emphasized, “The Club World Cup was indeed a turning point this season after our losses in the African Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.
We aim to harness the same positive energy in the Egyptian Cup final.”
When asked about any specific players he fears from the opposition, Koller replied, “There is no individual player I fear. We are facing a strong team with collective strength, and my focus is on the entire team rather than individual players.
To win, we must perform collectively and effectively.”
Discussing the team’s focus during finals, Koller remarked, “There is no special formula for finals; we prepare for every match meticulously.
However, the players’ motivation might be higher in these matches, and the team bears the responsibility while focusing on significant details.”
Koller concluded by expressing confidence in the team’s experienced players, stating, “Experience indeed makes a difference, and while we have some injuries, most of our players possess vast experience.
I have full confidence in all the players, and I am not worried about the lack of experience.”
