Former Al Ahly and Egyptian national team star Mohamed Aboutrika has shed light on the reason behind the animosity towards him from Zamalek fans throughout his football career.
In an interview with beIN Sports, Aboutrika stated, “I always enjoyed playing in the big derby matches, especially the Al Ahly versus Zamalek encounters.”
He continued, “Throughout history, derby matches and summit games have been significant, and I have scored 13 goals against Zamalek. This is why the White Knights’ fans dislike me.”
The upcoming Egypt Cup final for the 2022-2023 season between Al Ahly and Zamalek is set to take place next Friday in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
