The prominent sports commentator Medhat Shalaby shed light on the significant financial gains made by Zamalek Sporting Club through the acquisition and subsequent transfer of Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim ‘Kahraba,’ the forward currently playing for Al Ahly.
Speaking on the program “Ya Masa Al Anwar” aired on MBC Egypt, Shalaby emphasized the pivotal role Kahraba played in boosting Zamalek’s financial standing, particularly after his transfer to the club in the summer of 2015 from Egyptian side ENPPI.
Shalaby stated, “Kahraba was indeed a stroke of luck for Zamalek, as the White Knights reaped unprecedented financial benefits from his tenure.
Since joining from ENPPI, Kahraba’s presence in the club has injected a staggering $6 million into Zamalek’s coffers, a sum unmatched by any other player in the club’s history.”
Highlighting the financial intricacies surrounding Kahraba’s transfer, Shalaby elucidated, “Zamalek lucratively loaned Kahraba to Al Ittihad Jeddah for $1.2 million initially, followed by a subsequent renewal of the loan for $2.3 million.
Eventually, after unilaterally terminating his contract, Kahraba moved to Portuguese club Aves, further enriching Zamalek with an additional $6 million.”
