Riyad Mahrez tops list of highest-earning African footballers worldwide

Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, the star player of Saudi club Al-Ahli, has topped the list of the highest-earning African footballers in the world for the year 2024.

According to a report by “businessday,” Mahrez leads the ranking of the highest-earning African footballers globally.

In terms of figures, the same source revealed that the Algerian international earns an annual income of £45 million with his club Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, which is approximately equivalent to 1.192 billion Moroccan dirhams annually.

The study also clarified that Riyad Mahrez, aged 33, saw his annual income rise by £160,000 after his transfer from Manchester City to Al-Ahli Saudi, a move that was worth £30 million.

The complete ranking of the top five highest-earning African footballers in the world for 2024, according to “businessday,” is as follows:

  1. Riyad Mahrez: £45 million annually
  2. Sadio Mane: £34 million annually
  3. Kalidou Koulibaly: £30 million annually
  4. Mohamed Salah: £18.2 million annually
  5. Seko Fofana: £13 million annually
