The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has awarded Al Ahly Club a bronze prize for the FIFA Club World Cup, free from the penalties incurred during the tournament.
Al Ahly secured third place in the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds (4-2) in a match held on December 22nd in Saudi Arabia.
The club is entitled to a reward of $2.5 million for its third-place finish in the latest edition of the Club World Cup.
Sources revealed that Al Ahly received the full amount in a single installment, albeit with deductions for financial penalties totaling approximately 80,000 Swiss Francs.
During the tournament, six Al Ahly players received yellow cards, and Anthony Modeste received a red card.
Additionally, there was a penalty for the presence of spectators at the final training session before the match against Fluminense in the semi-finals, amounting to 10,000 Swiss Francs.
The players who received yellow cards during the Club World Cup matches were: Ahmed Ashour, Mahmoud Kahraba, Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Abdel Monem “Afsha,” Ali Maaloul, and Mohamed El Shenawy. Anthony Modeste was sent off with a red card just minutes after his participation against Al Ittihad Jeddah.
Despite these penalties, Al Ahly’s performance in the Club World Cup was commendable, culminating in their recent victory against Young Africans (1-0) on Friday, where they maintained their lead in their group in the African Champions League.
