Officials from Guinea’s SOAR Academie have declined to participate in the match against Zamalek in the sixth and final round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup group stage.
The match is scheduled to take place at Cairo International Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, at 9 p.m.
Speaking exclusively to The Nation Sport, a source within Zamalek Club confirmed, “There have been assurances from CAF officials that SOAR Academie has expressed reluctance to play against Zamalek in the Confederation Cup.
The Guinean club has not yet booked flight tickets for their team.”
The source continued, “The latest information we received in the past few hours is that SOAR Academie is expected to arrive in Cairo at 5 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, with the technical meeting scheduled for 1 p.m.”
“There is a desire from SOAR Academie not to participate in the match and to avoid any sanctions at this time.
However, Zamalek Club is currently in camp and is preparing to play the match as scheduled, officially at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday,” the source concluded.
