The African Champions League is set to conclude its group stage matches today, Saturday, with the final round of matches for Groups 1, 2, and 3.
The fate of Group 4 has already been decided, with Al Ahly and Young Africans securing qualification.
Group 1
Group 1 witnesses a fierce battle for the top spot. Sundowns currently lead the group with 10 points, tied with Mazembe.
The outcome of their match today will determine the group winner and the first qualifier for the quarter-finals.
Group 2
Group 2 includes AS Vita Club, Simba, Wydad, and Jwaneng Galaxy. Wydad’s fate will be decided today, as they require a win against AS Vita Club while hoping for Simba to lose or draw against Jwaneng Galaxy.
Simba, having secured qualification, and Jwaneng Galaxy have already exited the tournament.
Group 3
In Group 3, Esperance Tunis has the opportunity to secure top position by defeating Al Hilal, combined with Petro de Luanda losing to Etoile du Sahel.
The group standings could be as follows:
- Esperance Tunis, 11 points
- Petro de Luanda, 9 points
- Al Hilal, 5 points
- Etoile du Sahel, 4 points
However, Esperance Tunis risks elimination if they lose to Al Hilal without scoring goals and Al Hilal scores more than two goals, along with Petro’s result.
In such a scenario, the group standings would be:
- Petro de Luanda, 12 points
- Al Hilal, 8 points
- Esperance Tunis, 8 points
- Etoile du Sahel, 4 points
