Ismael Ziyani, a young talent at Barcelona’s football club, has made a decision to represent Morocco over Spain after receiving invitations from both the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Spanish Football Federation.
According to sources close to the player, Ziyani has agreed to continue playing for the Moroccan national team under 15, following his participation in a preparatory gathering for this age group held in December last year at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmoura, on the outskirts of Salé.
The same sources indicated that Ziyani’s family preferred him to continue wearing the Moroccan national team jersey, despite receiving an invitation from the Spanish national team.
They informed the Spanish Federation accordingly, resulting in his withdrawal from the list of players called up for the friendly matches against Italy on March 5th and 7th.
Ziyani has also received an invitation from the Moroccan Football Association to participate in a preparatory gathering at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, scheduled to take place between March 18th and the 26th.
The Association has officially contacted Barcelona requesting permission for Ismael Ziyani to participate in this preparatory camp, in preparation for upcoming commitments.
Ziyani, whose father is Moroccan and mother is Spanish, has previously captained Barcelona’s youth team and continues to play for them in the under-15 category.
