Before retiring, however, Cousin has his sights set on the CHAN (African Nations Championship) scheduled for January, where he will represent the Panthers in South Africa. Reflecting on the team’s goals, he stated, “Winning the CEMAC is a way for us to build confidence before playing CHAN. With the A team, we missed out on the 2013 CAN and the 2014 World Cup. So, our ambition is to win this CHAN, to restore our image.”
Cousin played a crucial role in Gabon’s recent victory in the CEMAC Cup, marking 25 years since the last time the Panthers secured the championship.
Considering his post-career plans, Cousin expressed his intention to remain in football and in Gabon, acknowledging that his experience could be more valuable in his home country than in Europe. He emphasized his desire to share his knowledge and contribute to football projects in Gabon, stating, “I want to share my experience; otherwise, it would be useless. I was put into projects, I accepted straight away and yet, it’s not easy.”
