By netting a double against Southampton this Sunday, Emmanuel Adebayor has now accumulated a total of 85 goals in the Premier League. This surpasses the 84 goals scored by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo during his time with Manchester United.
The striking aspect of this achievement becomes evident when considering that Adebayor, who has played for Arsenal and Manchester City, has only featured in two more Premier League matches (198) than Ronaldo did (196). Adebayor’s goal distribution includes 46 goals with the Gunners, 15 with Manchester City, and he has added 24 to his tally with Tottenham.
Remarkably, the Togolese player’s last instance of scoring a double in England dates back to May 2012 against Bolton. This season, Adebayor has found the net three times, marking his return to goal-scoring form. His scoring spree began last Thursday in the English League Cup against West Ham, where he made his first start of the season.
