Ahmed Saeed “Zizo,” a player for Zamalek, has shared a video showing the extent of the injury he sustained during the match against Abu Salim in the African Confederation Cup.
Zizo sustained the injury to his ankle just before the end of the first half of the Zamalek vs. Abu Salim match, which required him to be stretchered off and unable to continue the game.
In a video posted on his personal Instagram account, Zizo can be seen applying ice to the site of his injury upon returning from Algeria.
Following the conclusion of the Abu Salim match, Zamalek’s doctor, Mohamed Osama, clarified that Zizo was suffering from an ankle injury, and his substitution was a precautionary measure to prevent further aggravation of the injury.
Osama also confirmed that there were no fractures, and the injury consisted of a sprain to the ankle ligaments, assuring that the player will be available for the Egypt Cup final against Al Ahly on March 8.
Zamalek’s team returned to Cairo earlier today, Monday, from Algeria after securing a 2-1 victory over Abu Salim. The match took place at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba, Algeria.
It’s worth noting that Zamalek had already secured their spot in the quarter-finals in the previous round and solidified their qualification with yesterday’s win against Abu Salim, topping Group Two of the Confederation Cup with 13 points.
