The injury curse has struck again at Al Ahly Club, with midfielder Mustafa Abu El-Khair, a recent addition to the squad, sustaining a severe injury during the match against Al Ittihad Alexandria on Sunday in the Republic Championship league.
Abu El-Khair suffered a concussion and is suspected to have a nasal fracture following a heavy collision during the Al Ahly versus Al Ittihad Alexandria match.
The young player collapsed after colliding with an opponent and was immediately transferred to the hospital for necessary examinations and assessment of his condition.
Included in Al Ahly’s squad for the recent matches against CR Belouizdad of Algeria and Medeama of Ghana in the CAF Champions League, Abu El-Khair was placed on the list by Swiss coach Marcel Koller to compensate for the injuries of Aliou Dieng and Ahmed Nabil “Kouka.”
Abu El-Khair remained under observation at the hospital for several hours, receiving appropriate medical treatment.
Commenting on the incident, Ahmed Jalal, the assistant coach of Al Ahly’s U-20 team, conveyed his wishes for Abu El-Khair’s swift recovery, stating, “Mustafa Abu El-Khair was injured during the Al Ahly vs. Al Ittihad Alexandria match.
We wish him a speedy recovery, and hopefully, he’ll return in good health.”
The match, held at Al Ahly’s stadium in Nasr City, ended in a 3-1 victory for Al Ahly on penalties in the third round of the final stage of the Republic Youth League.
