Renowned Algerian sports commentator on the Qatar-based beIN SPORTS network, Hafiz Derradji, has disclosed the identity of the new national team coach set to lead Algeria’s football squad, succeeding Djamel Belmadi.
Derradji clarified that the latest developments have narrowed down the competition to two candidates: José Peseiro, the coach of Nigeria, and Vladimir Petković, who served as the head coach of the Swiss national team for a full seven years.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar’s “Winwin” website, Derradji remarked, “Most expectations lean towards Petković, the former coach of Switzerland for seven years.”
Continuing his analysis, Hafid Derradji stated, “Personally, I imagine… unless there’s a surprise, the new coach will join the team in the March camp.”
Meanwhile, the same source expressed optimism about the future of the Algerian national team and the possibility of its resurgence.
Derradji concluded, “Fortunately, we have all the capabilities, skills, and talents to rejuvenate the team and prepare well for the World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 African Cup.”
