In the first match, suspense lingered until the very end. After a goalless regulation time, the encounter between Zambia and Sudan was decided in extra time, particularly in the second half. Ronald Kampamba broke the deadlock for Chipolopolo in the 110th minute, seemingly securing victory for his team. However, Sudan’s Ibrahim, the standout player of the tournament, provided an assist to Miaaz Abdelrahim for the equalizer. In the dying moments, Ibrahim Salah himself scored to give Sudan the victory.
In the second semi-final, the host country, Kenya, needed only one goal to secure the win. Clifton Miheso found the back of the net in the 5th minute, and the Belgian-coached team led by Adel Amrouche aims to retain the trophy in Nairobi.
The stage is now set for an exciting grand final between Kenya and Sudan next Thursday, marking the culmination of the 2013 CECAFA Cup.
