Papy Djilobodji has enjoyed a stellar start to the season with FC Nantes, contributing to their victory against OM at the Vélodrome on Friday during the 17th round of Ligue 1. Unsurprisingly, the Senegalese international has become a target for numerous clubs given his impressive performances.
However, Nantes’ leadership, led by president Waldemar Kita, is adamant about retaining the 25-year-old player. Kita emphasized that any potential suitors would need to be prepared to make a substantial financial commitment, as discussions for Djilobodji would only commence with offers starting at 20 million euros.
Kita revealed, “I already had offers for him. No French clubs but foreign clubs. But there was nothing official. Djilobodji still has two and a half years left on his contract, so I don’t see the point in extending it now. We won’t hinder a player’s career if he receives genuine and attractive proposals. However, that is not the case at the moment, and we cannot dismantle the team. Hence, I would only consider discussions starting from 20 million euros,” as conveyed to 10 Sport.
Potential buyers for Djilobodji have been duly cautioned about the substantial financial expectations set by Nantes.
