A source within Al Ahly club has revealed the reason behind Swiss coach Marcel Koller’s decision to postpone the football team’s trip to Ghana by 24 hours, with the team now set to depart on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, ahead of the anticipated clash against Medeama scheduled for next Friday at 6 PM in Ghana for the fifth round of the African Champions League.
According to the club insider, “Koller decided to postpone Al Ahly’s trip to Ghana to Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to his desire to monitor the progress of Percy Tau and Wessam Abouali’s rehabilitation and assess their ability to accompany the delegation.”
South African playmaker Percy Tau, a key figure for Al Ahly, is undergoing medical examination under the supervision of Ahmed Gaballah, the head of the team’s medical staff, to determine his fate regarding the trip to Ghana, as he has been struggling with severe fatigue due to his recent participation with his national team in the recent African Cup of Nations held in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Elephants emerged as champions.
Tau was absent from Al Ahly’s match against Algerian side CR Belouizdad due to fatigue, and the coaching staff is eagerly awaiting his examination results to determine his availability for the Medeama Ghanaian match.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s medical staff has administered travel vaccinations to Wessam Abouali, ensuring his readiness to accompany the team on their upcoming journey.
Abouali had suffered a hamstring injury following the conclusion of the Red Devils’ training session and underwent a rehabilitation program under the supervision of the medical staff led by Dr. Ahmed Gaballah.
