Efforts have intensified in recent hours from officials at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to mediate between representatives of Al Ahly and Pyramids clubs in a bid to resolve the escalating crisis between Egyptian national team star Hussein El-Shahat and Pyramids’ defender and Moroccan national team player Mohamed Chibi.
The rift between the two players has taken a serious turn in recent weeks after Mohamed Chibi filed a lawsuit against Hussein El-Shahat in court.
Hussein El-Shahat was questioned several days ago at the Fifth Settlement Prosecution Office and was released on bail pending further investigation and the examination of all aspects of the case.
The crisis began during a match between Al Ahly and Pyramids when Hussein El-Shahat slapped Mohamed Chibi in the face on the field during a heated altercation, a regrettable incident captured by television cameras.
Following this incident, Hussein El-Shahat publicly apologized to Mohamed Chibi, even kissing his forehead in a gesture of contrition, a moment widely covered by various media outlets.
However, the Moroccan player escalated the situation by refusing the apology and proceeding to file a legal case against Hussein El-Shahat.
