Global newspapers have highlighted the return of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool FC, after contributing to his team’s overwhelming victory over Brentford, with four goals to one, in today’s Saturday match of the English Premier League.

This marked his first appearance after recovering from injury.

Liverpool faced Brentford at the latter’s stadium, as part of the 25th round of the Premier League.

Salah participated in his team’s match against Brentford, following his absence due to an injury he sustained while playing for the Egyptian national team against Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which was hosted and won by Ivory Coast.

He came on as a substitute in the 44th minute, replacing his teammate Jota, to deliver an outstanding performance with the Reds, scoring a goal and assisting another.

Here’s a roundup of what the world’s newspapers had to say about Salah’s return and his brilliance against Brentford:

The Sun (UK): “Salah Returns Strongly from Injury, Aids Teammates in Achieving a Sweeping Victory over Brentford in the English Premier League.”

The newspaper added, “Salah’s pass and goal in his first appearance since suffering a knee injury led to a stoppage in the match and sealed the victory that kept the Reds at the top of the table.”

Daily Mail (UK): “Salah Joins Premier League Royalty and Nears Record After Stunning Display Against Brentford Upon Return from Injury.”

The newspaper continued, “Mohamed Salah has joined a shining list of players who achieved an impressive feat in the Premier League, scoring and assisting in the Reds’ quadruple victory.”

The Guardian (UK): “Mohamed Salah Scores in Return Against Brentford.”

It added, “Mohamed Salah, who came on as an emergency substitute in the first half, returned to training, where he delivered the decisive assist to Alexis Mac Allister and then scored Liverpool’s third goal. His return was timed perfectly and proved to be a nuisance for his opponents, as evident against Brentford, as described by his manager.”

The Daily Telegraph (UK): “The Main Man Has Returned… Few Can Silence the Crowds and Intimidate the Opponent.”

The newspaper continued, “There are very few players in football who can silence the crowds without touching the ball.

Players who can send shivers of fear into the stadium even when the ball is 40 yards away from them.”

It went on to praise Salah, stating, “Mohamed Salah is one of those players, and when he leaped above Cody Jackobu after 68 minutes, it felt like the air had been sucked out of Brentford’s stadium. Salah hadn’t even reached the ball yet, but everyone on the pitch, including Brentford’s defenders, knew what would happen next.

And moments later, the ball was in Brentford’s net.”

It concluded, “Salah reminded everyone why he remains the key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s team.

This was his first appearance for the club since New Year’s Day, and he played like a man eager to make up for lost time.

One goal, one decisive pass, three points, and a strong statement: the main man has returned.”
