Emilio Nsue, the top scorer of the African Cup of Nations, along with his teammate Iban Salvador, have criticized the officials of the Football Federation of Equatorial Guinea after being excluded from the national team for “unclear reasons.”
Equatorial Guinea led its group in the Africa Cup of Nations, which included Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Guinea-Bissau, before being eliminated in the subsequent round after losing to Guinea.
Despite this, Nsue, the striker for Equatorial Guinea, clinched the top scorer award with a tally of 5 goals.
The Equatorial Guinea Football Federation issued a statement after the tournament’s conclusion, announcing the exclusion of captain and top scorer Nsue for disciplinary reasons, and Salvador, who “was involved in an incident in Abidjan that required intervention from the Ivorian police, causing a delay in the return of the mission to Equatorial Guinea and tarnishing the image of the national team and the country.”
Nsue launched his attack via a live broadcast on the social media app Instagram, stating: “The football officials in our country are cancerous, thieves, and liars.
They stole a million euros that they promised us after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
We will not remain silent about our rights, and so far, we have not seen any of the promised amount.”
The duo elaborated on their experiences during the recent Africa Cup of Nations, indicating that the national team lacked adequate equipment before the match against Nigeria in the recent tournament.
They further added that one of the physical therapists was working as a spy for the football federation and had never performed any “massage” before, instead administering well-known painkillers to the players.
