Raymond Kalla, a former Cameroonian footballer who played for Sivasspor in Turkey, is actively involved in efforts to contribute to the development of football in Cameroon. During his visit to the headquarters of the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (SYNAFOC), Kalla expressed his commitment to improving the state of Cameroonian football and working towards the protection of the rights and interests of footballers.
Kalla emphasized the importance of player unions in football, drawing on his experiences as a professional player. He cited an example from Spain, where the players’ union played a crucial role in ensuring that clubs fulfilled their contractual commitments, particularly during challenging times when clubs faced difficulties in paying salaries.
Recognizing the significance of SYNAFOC for Cameroonian football, Kalla pledged to share his experiences with fellow countrymen. He stressed that having a players’ union is beneficial for active players, providing them with a platform to address issues and seek assistance when needed.
Discussing the divisions within the football community, Kalla attributed the lack of unity to the disappointing results in Cameroonian football. He urged for a collective effort to strengthen football in the country, emphasizing the need for unity among both active and retired players. Kalla expressed the belief that by fostering dialogue, finding compromises, and working together, the football community in Cameroon could overcome its challenges and improve the overall state of the sport.
Raymond Kalla, who represented Cameroon in three World Cups (1994, 1998, and 2002) and contributed to winning the CAN 2000 with the national team, brings valuable experience and insights to the efforts aimed at revitalizing Cameroonian football.
