The draw for the Cecafa Cup groups was conducted in Uganda for the upcoming edition of the tournament. Here are the groupings:

- Uganda (host country)
- Kenya
- Ethiopia
- South Sudan (making their first appearance in an international tournament since their creation in 2011)
Group B:
- Sudan (champion in 2007)
- Tanzania
- Burundi
- Somalia
Group C:
- Rwanda
- Zanzibar
- Eritrea
- Malawi (invited from Cosafa for this edition)
The first match of the competition is scheduled to be between South Sudan and Ethiopia on November 24. The defending champion and 12-time winner, Uganda, will enter the competition against Kenya. The Cecafa Cup is an important tournament for teams in the East and Central African region, providing an opportunity for countries to showcase their football talent and compete on the international stage.
