“I HAVE NO ILLUSIONS”, PATRICK MBOMA DOES NOT SELL CAMEROONIAN SKIN CHEAPLY IN BRAZIL

Patrick Mboma, former international footballer with 56 caps and 33 goals for Cameroon, has expressed skepticism about the Indomitable Lions’ chances at the 2014 World Cup. Despite Cameroon’s qualification with a 4-1 victory over Tunisia, Mboma doesn’t believe in the team’s potential for a significant impact in the tournament. He candidly stated that he expects nothing from Cameroon’s World Cup run and emphasized that the current team faces internal problems.

Mboma believes that the team’s qualification might be masking deeper issues, referring to it as “the tree that hides the forest.” He highlighted the fatigue and disillusionment among fans, suggesting that the past glory of the Lions as a flagship nation in African football is no longer convincing. According to Mboma, many people were even expressing the sentiment that it might be better if Cameroon didn’t go to the World Cup.

He pointed out specific shortcomings in the team, such as the lack of players in key positions, the absence of a right-back, and the reliance on certain players for crucial roles. Mboma concluded that the team has significant challenges to address before the World Cup.
