The United States government has revoked the visa of the President of the Central African Football Federation (CAF), Patrice-Edouard Ngaissona. Ngaissona, who is also a member of the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and president of the Central African Republic football association, has been sanctioned by the U.S. for his alleged involvement in serious human rights abuses. The U.S. Department of State, in a statement, highlighted Ngaissona’s alleged role in coordinating “militia attacks on civilian populations, leading to widespread displacement and dire humanitarian conditions.” The visa revocation is part of broader international efforts to hold individuals accountable for human rights violations in the Central African Republic.
