Senegalese football federation refutes Krépin Diatta sanction claims

Krépin Diatta, faced sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has categorically denied such allegations.

Contrary to media assertions of a four-match suspension and a 10 million CFA franc fine imposed by CAF on Krépin Diatta, the FSF issued an official statement debunking these claims.

The FSF’s official statement reads, “Following the publication today of a press article reporting sanctions taken by the CAF jury against Mr. Krépin Diatta, Senegalese international, and the request for confirmation from various bodies, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) informs the public that the player was indeed the subject of a disciplinary investigation procedure opened by CAF.”

The investigation centered around comments attributed to Diatta by the French press, alleging corruption within CAF.

The FSF clarified that these comments were recorded without Diatta’s knowledge during an informal conversation in the mixed zone, unrelated to an official interview.

Guided by the FSF Legal Department, Diatta promptly provided a written response to CAF’s inquiry. He explained the context of his remarks, emphasizing that the conversation did not involve designated media officers for the competition site.

Furthermore, Diatta underwent a hearing before the disciplinary panel on February 5, 2024, where he vehemently denied any allegations regarding CAF corruption charges.

Importantly, the FSF emphasized that neither Krépin Diatta nor the federation has received any official notification of a decision on this matter from CAF. As of now, they remain unaware of any publication by CAF regarding the alleged sanctions.

The FSF’s resolute response seeks to clarify the situation, reiterating the commitment to fair and transparent disciplinary processes and defending the integrity of Senegal’s football contingent.
