Jamal Al Amm, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, has expressed satisfaction with the performance of Egyptian referees in the recent African Cup of Nations, emphasizing the importance of honoring their efforts.
He stated that the Egyptian refereeing system is in good shape and boasts promising talents, expressing his hope for their continued success in future competitions.
Speaking on the “Box to Box” program on ETC channel, Al Amm emphasized the need to recognize the contributions of Egyptian referees, attributing their success to various factors that have helped them shine on the continental stage.
He highlighted the participation of Egyptian referees in international tournaments, expressing the association’s desire to see more of them officiating at the upcoming World Cup.
Al Amm also acknowledged the negative impact of relying on foreign referees for high-profile matches in previous years, stating that it has affected the reputation of Egyptian referees.
He emphasized the association’s commitment to developing the refereeing system and commended the current referees’ committee led by Pereira for its efforts in this regard.
Regarding financial matters, Al Amm mentioned that some referees have requested an increase in their financial rewards, which will be considered in the near future.
He confirmed that the Egypt Cup final between Al Ahly and Zamalek will be officiated by Egyptian referees, underscoring the association’s confidence in them.
Al Amm addressed the decision to hold the Egypt Cup final in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the interest of Gulf-based fans in experiencing such events.
He expressed hope that the final, whether attended by local or international fans, will reflect positively on the reputation of Egyptian football and the participating clubs.
The decision to move the final outside Cairo represents a new experience for Egyptian football, and Al Amm emphasized the importance of upholding the image of the clubs and Egyptian football as a whole, both domestically and internationally.
