The Ghana Football Federation (GFA) is reportedly in contemplation of rekindling its association with Otto Addo, considering him for the position of head coach for the national team, as disclosed by sources close to the Federation, as reported by the local press.
Otto Addo, previously at the helm of the Ghanaian national team in 2022, initially served as the assistant coach in 2021 before assuming the role of the head coach in 2022.
Under his guidance, the Ghanaian tactician steered the Black Stars through the qualifiers, securing a spot in the prestigious World Cup in Qatar. However, Addo and the team parted ways in December of the same year.
With Ghana currently on the quest for a new manager following Chris Hughton’s departure in January, Otto Addo emerges as a prominent name in the discussions for the future leadership of the Black Stars.
Sources indicate ongoing discussions between Ghanaian football authorities and the former Ghanaian international, exploring the possibility of his return to the helm of the national selection.
The likelihood is strong that Otto Addo could reassume the coaching responsibilities by the end of February 2024.
While no official confirmation has been made, the potential return of Addo holds promise, aligning with Ghana’s search for a coach capable of revitalizing its football.
The ongoing recruitment initiative has attracted considerable attention, with over 500 applications currently under review by an ad-hoc committee tasked with scrutinizing and selecting the most suitable candidate for the coveted role.
As the deliberations unfold, the prospect of Otto Addo’s return adds an intriguing dimension to the unfolding narrative of Ghana’s quest for a new football leader.
