Recent rumors have circulated regarding Mohamed El Shenawy, the goalkeeper of Al Ahly, allegedly seeking financial compensation from the club’s management for turning down several lucrative Gulf offers compared to his contract value with Al Ahly.
Egyptian news outlet “Al-Masry Al-Youm” reached out to a well-informed source within Al Ahly Club, who responded that the idea of modifying Mohamed El Shenawy’s contract was proposed by the club’s management and not the player himself, as a form of compensation for turning down tempting Gulf offers and preferring to stay with Al Ahly.
The source clarified that El Shenawy did not discuss or exert pressure on this matter, but rather it is left to the discretion of the football management at Al Ahly, emphasizing that what matters to the officials at Al Ahly currently is El Shenawy’s return to the field as soon as possible to benefit from his capabilities.
El Shenawy will be absent from matches for a period of at least three months after undergoing shoulder surgery due to his participation with the Egyptian national team in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, prompting Al Ahly to sign Mahmoud El Zanfaly during the last winter transfer window.
The clarification provided by the Al Ahly source dispels any misconceptions regarding Mohamed El Shenawy’s intentions and underscores the club’s commitment to resolving any issues amicably while prioritizing the player’s welfare and swift return to action.
