The management of Ittihad Tangier Football Club has submitted a formal protest to the Central Arbitration Committee, the National Referees Directorate, and the National Professional Football League over the refereeing of the match between Union Tangier and Nahdat Berkane.
In a statement issued by the Tangier-based team, it was clarified that Union Tangier suffered from unjust refereeing decisions that impacted the outcome of the match against Nahdat Berkane.
The statement emphasized that the errors committed by referee Samir Al-Kazzaz and his assistant in the VAR room, Hamza Al-Farq, led to Union Tangier’s defeat against Nahdat Berkane.
According to the document, Union Tangier protested the following incidents: “At minute 31, the failure to award a penalty and the dismissal of an opposing player who deliberately handled the ball, preventing it from entering the goal.
At minute 50, failure to declare an obvious offside after a cross to player number 21.”
The statement further stated that Union Tangier had provided its complaint “with all the evidence and proof of the clear refereeing injustice experienced during this match,” affirming that “these errors negatively affect the creation of football competition in our country and its progression towards improvement.”
Union Tangier announced that it “will not hesitate to defend its rights before the competent authorities,” demanding “fairness in taking the necessary actions regarding the refereeing injustice.”
It is worth noting that Nahdat Berkane had defeated Union Tangier with a single goal scored by Youssef Mehri in the 51st minute of the match held last Sunday at the Saniat Al-Rmel Stadium in Tetouan, as part of the 17th round of the National Professional Football League.
Following this result, Nahdat Berkane climbed to third place with 29 points, while Union Tangier remained in 15th place with 14 points.
