Al Nassr close to securing Nawaf Boushal on a new four-year deal

Al Nassr are close to agreeing a four-year contract extension with right-back Nawaf Boushal after several rounds of negotiations.

The Saudi club have held direct talks with the player’s representative, Ali Al-Rumaih, and the two sides have reached a preliminary agreement, according to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah.

The financial terms and remaining clauses of the proposed deal are expected to be announced at a later stage. The agreement has not yet been formally completed.

Boushal, 27, joined Al Nassr from Al Fateh in January 2023, signing a professional contract for five seasons. He is due to enter the final six months of that agreement in January, when he would be permitted to negotiate with other clubs.

The right-back has made 138 appearances for Al Nassr, scoring three goals and providing 19 assists. He has also received 15 yellow cards and been sent off twice.

Boushal was an important member of the side that won the Saudi Pro League title last season. His performances have made him a regular part of Al Nassr’s defensive options, prompting the club to seek an agreement that would keep him in the squad for a further four seasons.

At international level, Boushal has won 31 caps for Saudi Arabia. He also played a part in the national team’s victory in the Gulf Cup for national teams last October, when Saudi Arabia beat the United Arab Emirates to win the competition.
