Bayern Munich to earn €5m for Ajax friendly in Nairobi

Bayern Munich will receive €5m for travelling to Nairobi, Kenya, to play Ajax in a friendly match on 5 January 2027.

The game, being staged ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, will be the first fixture held at Nairobi’s new Raila Odinga International Stadium.

Ajax will receive half of the amount paid to Bayern Munich for the match.

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has approved the trip, with the club’s marketing and commercial director, Rouven Kasper, subsequently entrusted with organising the visit.

“At such a sum, it has to be done,” was the view expressed at Sabener Straße.
