Amina Orfi and Nouran Gohar will contest an all-Egyptian women’s final at the US Open Squash Championship after Mostafa Asal and Ali Abou Eleinen were beaten in the men’s semi-finals.
The tournament is being held at the Arlen Specter Center in Philadelphia from 1 to 7 November.
The women’s final will be an all-Egyptian contest for the ninth consecutive edition of the event.
Gohar reached the final by defeating Hania El Hammamy, the Wadi Degla player and defending champion, 3-2. El Hammamy was unable to complete the final game because of injury.
Orfi then secured her place in the title match with a 3-2 victory over Nour El Sherbiny.
The result sets up a final between two Egyptian players, while El Hammamy’s attempt to retain the title ended in the semi-finals.
No Egyptian in men’s final for first time since 2013
Asal, the defending champion, saw his bid to retain the men’s title ended by Peru’s Diego Elias, who won their semi-final 3-0.
New Zealand’s Paul Coll completed the men’s finalists by overcoming Wadi Degla player Abou Eleinen 3-2.
It means there will be no Egyptian player in the men’s final for the first time since 2013.
The men’s and women’s finals will both take place on Sunday morning, when the champions will be decided.
