Tour du Faso 2026: Seven riders out after rule breach, time limit and crashes

Seven riders have been disqualified or forced to abandon the 37th edition of the Tour du Faso following a series of incidents during the race.

Burkinabe rider ZONGO K. Jean Patiste, wearing number 46 for Equipe regionale de l’Ouest, was disqualified after benefiting from a tow from a civilian motorcyclist.

Ghanaian rider ISAAH Illiasu, number 85, was also removed from the classification after finishing outside the time limit.

Five further riders have withdrawn after crashes. They are Mali’s CISSE Fidele, wearing number 36, Benin’s AKOVOBAHOU J. Pasca, number 62, and Cote d’Ivoire’s SOMBIE Yacouba, number 91.

Algerian riders HAMZA Yacine, number 143, and MIMOUNI Oussama Abd, number 145, have also abandoned the competition because of falls.

The incidents have gradually reduced the number of riders still competing as the peloton moves into the final stages of the Tour du Faso 2026.
