Carney Chukwuemeka suffers injury in Borussia Dortmund win over SV Elversberg

Carney Chukwuemeka suffered an injury setback after being forced off during Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against SV Elversberg on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder was unable to continue after experiencing discomfort in his left thigh during the first half at Signal Iduna Park.

The incident occurred in the 33rd minute when Chukwuemeka went down and immediately grabbed his left thigh, prompting medical attention from Dortmund’s staff.

Despite receiving treatment, the 23-year-old could not continue, forcing head coach Niko Kovac to make an early substitution.

Maximilian Beier was introduced in the 34th minute to replace the injured midfielder as Dortmund adjusted their attacking setup.

Chukwuemeka had been handed a starting opportunity following Dortmund’s Champions League victory over Real Betis but saw his afternoon cut short by the injury.

The midfielder’s condition will be assessed further to establish the severity of the problem and determine how long he could remain on the sidelines.

Dortmund eventually secured a 2-1 victory, with Felix Nmecha scoring twice after the break before Noel Futkeu pulled one back for the visitors.
