Egypt Cup: El Sharqia Enppi beat Proxy to reach last 16

El Sharqia Enppi secured a place in the last 16 of the Egypt Cup after overcoming Proxy 3-2 in an eventful round-of-32 tie.

Proxy took the lead in the fourth minute when Mahmoud Felix converted from the penalty spot.

El Sharqia Enppi levelled seven minutes later, with Mohamed Hamdy also scoring from a penalty.

The comeback was completed in the 28th minute. Hossam Ghanem’s initial effort was saved by the Proxy goalkeeper, but he followed up to put the ball into the net and give El Sharqia Enppi the advantage.

Proxy restored parity five minutes before half-time when Mostafa Mohamed struck a powerful shot from outside the penalty area which found the net.

But El Sharqia Enppi regained the lead just two minutes later. Ghanem capitalised on a mistake by a Proxy defender, dribbled past the goalkeeper and finished into an unguarded net.

The result sends El Sharqia Enppi through to the Egypt Cup last 16, where they will face the winner of the match between Zamalek and Misr Insurance.
